Did you know adding Anjeer to warm milk can be the best drink for freezing winter nights! Here’s all you need to know about this age-old remedy and does it actually work?

Anjeer also known as Fig is packed with antioxidants, vitamin A, C, E, K, fiber, magnesium, calcium, potassium and copper. However, the concentration of antioxidants and minerals in dried Figs (Anjeer) is more as compared to fresh Figs. 100 grams of dried Figs have around 9.8 grams dietary fiber, whereas fresh Figs contain around 2.9 grams of fiber, similarly the presence of healthy protein in raw Figs is around 0.75 grams and in Anjeer it is around 3.3 grams.
To make this delicious and healthy bedtime drink, just boil one glass of milk. Add in 3 dried Figs. Boil the blend and add in 2-3 saffron strands, if you want to accentuate the experience.

Especially, in winters this drink will give your body the much needed nutrition.
You can also dilute the drink by soaking the anjeer in half cup warm water and then boiling it with half cup of milk.
In case of lactose intolerance, you can chew figs and drink it with vegan milk alternatives like Soy milk, Oats milk or Almond milk. Also, the concentration of sucrose in dried Figs is more than fresh Figs, which may not be a great choice for people with Diabetes, when consumed in excess. Thus, it is advised to seek medical guidance before adding this drink to your diet.
Combining Anjeer with warm milk can make for a healthy bedtime drink, which is great for immunity, bones, teeth and helps in boosting brain health, reduces inflammation, reduces joint and muscle pain, improves digestion, metabolism and works as an aphrodisiac.
When combined with Milk, which is loaded with healthy milk protein, milk fats and minerals, this warm drink helps in inducing sleep due to the presence of compounds known as Tryptophan and Melatonin. The presence of Tryptophan plays an essential role in the production of the neurotransmitter known as Serotonin.
What’s more, the addition of Anjeer in milk makes this drink great for people suffering from constipation or blood pressure as dried Figs have laxative, diuretic effects along with anticancer, hypoglycemic, hepatoprotective, antimicrobial and hypolipidemic properties, which makes it good for winters, when the immunity is low and the body needs ample strengthen to combat the seasonal changes.
