See our favourite frocks from Hollywood’s big night
With much of the pandemic’s strictest restrictions behind us, awards season is now back in full swing. And, although the Golden Globes was a much more toned-down affair this year, the SAG Awards was back in all its glory last night, bringing some of film and television’s biggest stars out on the red carpet – and they certainly made up for lost time.
Below, we round up our 10 favourite looks from the night.
From the actresses who embraced colour to those who had a thing for volume and others who were all about understated elegance on the red carpet, there was plenty of fashion to be enjoyed at the 2022 SAG Awards. Scroll down to see Selena Gomez in perhaps her best red-carpet look ever, Vanessa Hudgens oozing sex appeal in Atelier Versace, and Lady Gaga’s perfect, elegant Armani number.
And, to see every single look from the SAG Awards red carpet, head this way.
Selena Gomez was the picture of elegance in a black Oscar de la Renta gown for the 2022 SAG Awards. The design featured voluminous puffy sleeves and just a slither of skin revealed underneath her bust, while she teamed the dress with a statement Bulgari choker and a slicked-back bun.
For Vanessa Hudgens, the night was all about Versace. The actress oozed sex appeal in a slinky satin frock from the Italian fashion house, which clung perfectly to her body and featured a daring slit. She complemented the look with platform sandals and a slick bob.
Jada Pinkett-Smith had some fun with her red-carpet look last night, choosing a vintage Gareth Pugh design, which had a structured bodice and a huge skirt. She played with layering, adding a black, sleeved top underneath, and finished the ensemble off with a seriously statement choker.
It was a big night for Squid Game‘s HoYeon Jung, who took home an award, and her red-carpet look was a perfect choice. The design, which was custom Louis Vuitton, was a beaded, buttoned-up, column gown, which she wore with a centre-parted, plaited ‘do and some diamond earrings.
Kerry Washington loves to have fun with fashion, and last night’s red carpet was no different. The actress embraced colour and volume in a strapless gown by couture designer Celia Kritharioti.
Cate Blanchett’s red-carpet formula always centres on elegance, and for the 2022 SAG Awards the actress chose a custom Armani dress that certainly delivered on this. The gown featured a very low neckline which was covered in beaded detail, and she teamed the look with some loose Old Hollywood-inspired waves.
Not everybody could pull off a patent red leather dress, but Cynthia Erivo certainly can. The actress was a vision in the Louis Vuitton design – a statement, strapless gown that hugged her curves so perfectly.
Actress Jean Smart added a little drama to the red carpet with her Christian Siriano gown. The burgundy design featured a striking off-the-shoulder detail which was perfectly offset by the slinky fit of the rest of the dress.
Lady Gaga made a case for understated elegance at the SAG Awards this year, choosing a beautiful Armani Privé design. The strapless white gown was so simple and sleek, but the beaded bodice revealed underneath gave the look just the right amount of drama.
Another star to embrace dopamine dressing last night was West Side Story‘s Ariana DeBose, who injected the SAG Awards red carpet with a serious dose of pink. The actress’ strapless Valentino gown also featured a statement bow and train, ensuring all eyes were on her when she arrived on the red carpet.
