Katrina Kaif is undoubtedly one of the fittest actors in the industry. Besides maintaining a workout routine, she eats clean. Kaif turns to Shweta Shah, celebrity nutritionist and founder of Eatfit 24/7, for planning her diet. “Her overall diet is planned around giving her energy-rich foods so she can work out well and also stick to her busy schedule. Katrina’s energy levels, great skin and hair are a byproduct of her healthy and clean diet,” says Shah. Ahead the nutritionist breaks down the elements of her meal plan.
“Katrina has a pitta body, which means she needs foods that can balance this dosha by keeping it alkaline. For this, I recommend her to have eight soaked raisins in the morning along with fennel seeds,” says Shah. Soaking them overnight and eating them in the morning have shown benefits for one’s digestion and bone health.
From ash gourd to celery to cucumber, the actor turns to these vegetable juices to keep her body cool. From keeping one hydrated to regulating one’s blood pressure, these veggies are packed with nutrients without being calorie-dense.
“She likes having two home-cooked meals in a day, mostly of Asian cuisine,” says Katrina Kaif's nutritionist. Her favourite dishes include steamed fish, edamame and avocado salad, zucchini or quinoa pancakes, lettuce wraps and zoodles.
The Sooryavanshi actor is also a fan of hot soups and stews. She often has lentil stews or vegetable soups in her daily diet. One of her go-to soups is one made with broccoli and drumsticks. Both vegetables are beneficial to one’s health and fitness. While drumstick is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, broccoli adds fibre and is good for one’s gut health.
To satiate her sweet cravings, Katrina often turns to dates. A healthier option than refined sugar, dates are packed with fibre and antioxidants, and do not spike up your blood sugar levels drastically. The actor has date balls for dessert which are made at home as per her liking.
“Katrina understands her body well, and makes her own food choices that are clean and healthy. To add variety to her plate, we often include seasonal veggies in her meal plans. She also refrains from having dairy and gluten and isn’t a big fan of snacking. Being dairy and gluten-free prevents one from having gut-related ailments and when the gut is healthy, it keeps major health issues at bay,” adds Shah.
While eating healthy is important, and Katrina certainly follows a clean diet, it is customised for her keeping her body and health in mind. Blindly following it without consulting a nutritionist can do you more harm than good. “Before you add or delete a certain food group from your diet because a celeb does it isn’t a good idea. It may work for the celeb because they are guided by a nutritionist, but it may not give you the same results,” concludes Shah.
